This morning, Sam had an MRI to check on the tumor, to see how it is responding to the chemotherapy. The nurse practitioner called this evening to tell us that there was a "slight decrease" in the size of the tumor, which means that the chemo is working! Considering the tumor was small to begin with, and this is only after 2 rounds of chemo, we are thrilled about a "slight decrease"! She also told us that the dye that Sam was given for the scan was not readily absorbed within the tumor, which is also very good news (we don't really know why, but we are willing to take their word for it!). There is still a chance that much of the tumor could be dead as well; we will find that out once he has surgery and they can run a pathology test on the tumor.
Monday, he will go back to the hospital for his first chemotherapy treatment of round 3, so he will speak to his primary doctor a little bit more in detail about what this all means, and what the plan will be from here on out. We will keep you all posted.
I also wanted to mention to everyone that our wonderful friend, Erica, has set up a Culver's Fundraising Night for us! Come out and have a nice dinner, and a percentage of the profits will be set aside to help us with medical bills. It will be at the Culver's in Minooka on Thursday, August 23rd from 4-9pm. Sam, Taylor, and I will be attending for as much of it as we can, and we would love to see anyone there who can make it! Thanks so much to Erica for setting this up, and everyone else who is involved in the planning and volunteering!
